DHYANYOGI OMDASJI

DHYANYOGI OMDASJI

Famed for his BrahmaNad – Divine Omdasji Sound Meditation, YogisSamrat Dhyanyogi Omdasji is the successor and Gadipati of Dhyanyogi Madhusudandasji in the line of the illustrious Gurus of Kundalini Maha Yoga. Dhyanyogi Madhusudandasji brought the Kundalini Shaktipat and Yoga to the masses in India and West. And his Guru is Dhyanyogi Parameshwardasji who is reputed to be an immortal.

Dhyanyogi Omdasji was born into a family of Yogis. His paternal and maternal relatives were great siddhas and yogis. He is the second son of a wealthy brahmin family from the State of Bihar, India. His parents were Pandit Ratneshwar Jha and Shrimati Kaladevi. He ran away from home at a very young age and become a sadhu and later a Siddha. He is well known in the sadhu and saint community in India.

Before reaching the age of twenty, he was instrumental in conducting the Kumbh Mela in Allahabad and was the head of several prestigious Mutts all over India. He gave up everything after he became the Gadipati of Dhyanyogi Madhusudandasji. It was his belief that the love and grace he got from his Guru and the status he was bestowed with is the highest possible in this world.

MEETING HIS GURU

Omdasji spent several years of his childhood in the forest with a Siddha who took care of him and taught him the basic practises. Even before he was in his teens he became a Siddha. Knowing that Siddhis are different than the highest goal of self realisation, he spent some more years in spiritual practices and tapas to prepare himself to meet his Sadguru. His prayers were answered the day he met his Sadguru Dhyanyogi Madhusudandasji. Dhyanyogi Madhusudandasji is among the greatest Kundalini Yogis born in India. The saint community in India equated his status to that of Shri Ramakrishna Paramhamsa.

Dhyanyogi Madhusudandasji was old and needed a worthy successor. Even before meeting Omdasji, he knew that Omdasji was the rightful successor to Seat of the Guru. Later on he revealed to Omdasji how had in the past, mentally guided him to visit certain power spots and do spiritual practices and prepare himself for the day when they would both meet. Thus a truly worthy disciple received the Shaktipat- awakening of the Kundalini Shakti- from a great Master and ParamYogi.

Being an adept and Siddha, Omdasji was able to perform all the tapas dictated by his Guru and assimilate the tremendous power and Grace, his Guru bestowed on him. He superseded all the teachers his Guru had previously appointed for giving mantra and Shaktipat.

On 14th July 1992, during the Guru Purnima celebrations, Dhyanyogi Madhusudandasji anointed Omdasji as his Gadipati and successor in the Hansol Ashram in Ahmedabad, Gujarat. He declared that he had selected his spiritually most powerful, devoted and worthy disciple as his successor. The title of 'DHYANYOGI' was bestowed on Omdasji. This coronation ceremony was witnessed and attended by the then Chief Minister of Gujarat, heads of different religions, dignitaries, prominent citizens, members of the sadhu community and people from all walks of life.

After making Omdasji his Gadipati, His Holiness Dhyanyogi Madhusudandasji spent the last years of his life in a small flat in Ahmedabad with one of his close disciples. During one of his regular visits Omdasji was instructed by Dhyanyogi Madhusudandasji regarding the manner of performing the “final rites” for a Guru and revealed the spot he had chosen for his mahasamadhi in Hansol Ashram. Dhyanyogi Madhusudandasji handed over the responsibility of his final rites to Dhyanyogi Omdasji.

After having lived a long and fruitful life of 116 years, Dhyanyogi Madhusudandasji left his physical body on 29th August 1994 on the holy day of Gokulashtami. Omdasji being the Gadipati and the chosen successor of Dhyanyogi Madhusudandasji and male heir, performed the last rites as per the wishes and instructions of his Guru. The final rites were witness by thousands of disciples from all over the world, saints, and representatives from various political parties, prominent citizens and people. As per Vedic rites, the sandalwood pyre was lit and traditional rites of donation of cash, gold, silver, cows and clothes were given by Omdasji.

After completion of the final rites of Dhyanyogi Madhusudandasji, the bones and ashes of the body of Dhyanyogi Madhusudandasji were reverently placed in a pot and buried in the spot as instructed by Dhyanyogi Madhusudandasji. Tulsi plants were planted around it. Omdasji offered worship to his Guru. Omdasji covered the pot with a mound of mud and planted tulsi plants (commonly called as “dark tulsi”) all around. Regular prayers worship and offerings were made here by Omdasji with reverence to his great guru, Dhyanyogi Madhusudandasji.

Later on the Mahasamadhi of Dhyanyogi Madhusudandasji was constructed over this mound of mud housing the bones and ashes of the Great Guru. This is a shrine to the great Kundalini yogi and humanitarian. Disciples come here regularly to offer worship and do meditation.

HONORS BESTOWED ON DHANOGI OMDASJI

At the age of thirteen Omdasji was given the title of SIDHAPITAAADESHWAR (the most powerful saint of India) and a few years later the position of JAGAD GURU (Guru of the World) by the saint community of India.

During the 117th birthday function of Dhyanyogi Madhusudandasji on Jan 6, 1995, amidst a huge gathering of representatives of different religions and leaders of political parties and common folk, the saint community of India honoured Dhyanyogi Omdasji with the title of "YOGI SAMRAT”. A gathering of over 20,000 people cheered when Jagad Guru (World Guru) Ramananda Acharya conferred this rare honor on Dhyanyogi Omdasji crowning him “Yogi Samrat” meaning “King of Yogis”. India is a land of yogis and many great yogis have been born here. But this title "YOGI SAMRAT" has been bestowed on very few.The last to receive this title was Lord Buddha - the founder of Buddhism.
