Think and Pray

Our prayers are always answered by God. God is the all-knowing Mother who knows when to grant us items from our endless wish list. God grants us all that we need and does not necessarily cater to our greed. We need to trust God and surrender unto Him so that we are not disturbed when events do not happen as per our wish list to God.

We have previously discussed that we should think before we ask of God. Asking God to give us things is prayer. When we ask and we are granted, along with it come responsibilities which we must face.

When we seek great wealth, there comes a responsibility of sharing the wealth with the needy and the society. If we don’t do it we will suffer from great unhappiness and also from attacks by thieves and robbers.

When we seek large business, we have the responsibility of taking care of the natural assets and proper utilization of resources. If we don’t pay heed to such things, we will deplete the resources and also cause damage and pollution to the land, air and water. Ultimately we and our children will reap the sorrow of what we have sown.

When we seek physical strength, we go to the gym and work out in a manner which tears our muscles and re-knits them making them stronger. Since we are aware of the process, we take the pain of workouts into our stride and say – no pain no gain! This rule is applicable to all strengths and gains in life.

When we seek deep unending love from God, we will be placed in such situations where we are with most unloving people and we learn to give love unconditionally.

When we seek of patience from God, we are placed amongst fools who will test us patience to the utmost and we learn to deal well with them.

When we seek of compassion from God, we will be unduly hit at and cursed for no reason by others and by placing us in such a situation God gives us opportunity to practice compassion.

When we seek of God to give us generosity, we are placed amongst people who are needy and who always take from us without offering thanks or repayment.

We often pray to God to be of service to others and when opportunities are presented to us, we whine that we are being taken advantage of.

We need to rethink our situations in life. What we think as injustice or lack of love from God is nothing but the results of our own prayers to God and His positive response to our prayers. In our prayers to God, we list our many things.  God grants us. But we do not know that He has granted us our prayers. Without thinking over our situation, we blame God for the so called sufferings in life, not knowing that these are given to us as learning and practicing opportunities for getting closer to Him and receiving His Grace.

God always gives us the right things. And He gives us only what we can handle. When we face any situation in life, we must think over from a broader and wiser level to understand the possible intent of God in placing us there. Along with praying for a long list of desires, we must also seek from God the strength and wisdom to handle them when He grants us our desires!
